Case Studies | IBuilt's Midfloors delivers on speed and quality for Medium Density housing
When building medium density housing, speed and quality are crucial. An engineered timber midfloor system designed by IBuilt is the perfect choice to ensure a high quality, fast, and hassle-free floor system.
Builders who have used an IBuilt midfloor know that it adds speed and buildability to any housing project. The components are lighter, longer and stronger than solid timber, which mean floors go down faster and more easily.
Engineered timber products are unique in that they can be supplied up to 12m long, if necessary. They are dimensionally stable – no twisting or bowing means you don't lose time straightening or planning, which solid-wood joists often require. This means you can do away with mid-span nogging. The unique structural properties of a timber IBeam also mean large service holes can be made with no need for brackets.
IBuilt engineered midfloors use a range of quality products: IBeams from Louisiana Pacific (LP), structural LVL from Nelson Pine and high-strength 17C Glulam from Hyne Timber. An IBuilt-supplied midfloor also comes with all the hangers and hardware you need – from top plate to bottom plate, in one delivery. Even IBuilt's own structural flooring plywood can be included. All IBuilt midfloor designs are also supplied with a layout plan and joist certification documentation using the Hyne Design (HD7) engineering software.
